Before attending any in-person instruction, you must first complete this mandatory 3-hour online module, which covers:
Legal authority and limitations of a security guard
Responsibilities during an arrest
Use of discretion and judgment
Proper procedures and documentation
✅ Completion of this module is required before you may attend the in-person "Appropriate Use of Force" session.
After successfully completing the Powers to Arrest module, you will attend a 5-hour in-person classroom session focused on Appropriate Use of Force, where you will learn:
California use-of-force laws
Force escalation vs. de-escalation
Threat assessment and safety
Tactical decision-making
Real-life scenario practice and group discussion
📍 This session is led by certified instructors and is required by BSIS for compliance.
You’ll complete the remaining 32 hours online at your own pace through our secure learning platform. Topics include:
Public Relations & Professional Conduct
Observation, Documentation & Report Writing
Emergency Procedures
Communication and Conflict Resolution
Legal Aspects & Liability
Access Control & Patrol Procedures
Handling Difficult People

🎓 Each module includes interactive content, quizzes, and a final exam.
Upon successful completion of all 40 hours of training, you will receive:
A digital Certificate of Completion emailed directly to you
This certificate is formatted for submission to BSIS
Our team will also provide guidance on how to file with the state
Access to the online training platform is available immediately after registration
Students must complete all training within 30 days
The Powers to Arrest module must be completed before attending the Appropriate Use of Force session
You will be contacted to schedule your in-person session once the first module is done
